Though I sincerely doubt that improvisation can be taught, it
can be introduced in a straightforward, logical, and non-intimidating manner.
Learn through imitation. Play along with the HOT JAZZ rhythm section. Scales, triads, seventh chords, blues form, blues scales, mutes, "swinging", Jazz coloration, and idiomatic rhythms are introduced. Also included is the B-FLAT PRIMER of HARMONIC PROGRESSION. "Play-along" rhythm tracks include the blues in the keys of: B-flat, E-flat, and F.
This "Audio Teacher" was developed to introduce 6th to 10th grade level students to the art of improvisation. While Call & Response Jazz was originally conceived and intended for youngsters, it is perfectly useable for any age student having little or no experience at improvization.
